17 year old hacker arrested as suspect in GTA 6 leak

British police have managed to find the 17-year-old young hacker, who is thought to have carried out one of the biggest leaks in the history of the game.

The 17-year-old was detained by British police in Oxfordshire on Thursday (September 22nd). The young man is suspected of hacking Rockstar Games and Uber, the company responsible for the development of Grand Theft Auto 6.

The man is reportedly still in custody and the case is being conducted by Great Britain's National Crime Agency, which specialises in cybercrime. It is also estimated that the young man may have links to the Lapsus$ group, which became famous for attacks on Microsoft, Samsung and Nvidia earlier this year.

Rockstar's confession tweet broke records

Last week, gameplay footage from the early development version of GTA 6 dropped on the internet. The owner of the forum where the leaks were published claimed that the leaks were made by a young man from the hacker group Lapsus$ operating in the UK.

GTA 6's developer Rockstar Games quickly acknowledged the reality of the leak, and the company's admission was the most liked video game tweet ever.
