10 thousand tons of garbage accumulated on Mars

Spacecraft launched to Mars leave behind huge piles of garbage.

Some institutions, especially NASA, sent various spacecraft to the red planet Mars and examined the planet.

However, this situation causes the accumulation of garbage on Mars, just as Earth orbit is full of satellite debris.

The Perseverance rover, developed by NASA, was launched on July 30, 2020 and landed in Jezero Crater on the red planet on the night of February 18, 2021.

NASA's Perseverance rover, which continues its exploration on Mars, recently found a strange object that looked like a strip of rope entangled and then it was determined that this object fell during landing.

Junk on Mars is on the rise

There are several sources of human-caused pollution on Mars. First of all, all the spacecraft that land on Mars leave garbage behind.

Vehicles that have reached the end of their working life also remain on the surface of Mars, creating waste. At the same time, we should not forget the vehicles that hit the Martian surface due to the unsuccessful landing and crumbled.

Fragments from spacecraft that crashed into the surface of Mars and disintegrated are spreading all over the planet due to Martian winds.

In addition to these fragments, there are currently nine other spacecraft that are sitting in one piece on the surface of Mars but are not working.

As a result, the fragments that came from Earth on the surface of Mars reach about 10 thousand tons. Scientists say this junk could jeopardize future Mars missions.
